Gail Ann Dorsey

An outstanding instrumentalist, singer, session player, side-woman, composer, performing and recording artist, Gail Ann Dorsey has enriched the work of such prominent artists as Tears for Fears, Gang of Four, Lenny Kravitz, Jane Siberry, and John Ashton’s Satellite Paradiso, to cite a very few.

Ms. Dorsey’s extensive tenure with David Bowie has received the most attention, and deservedly so. Many brilliant bassists worked with the Thin White Duke, yet Gail distinguished herself among Bowie’s choice roster by the venturesome manner in which she utilized the lower register of her extended range bass on David’s classic canon in concert – especially when Reeves Gabrels and Earl Slick soloed into the stratosphere.

Gail’s presence on David’s latter day works including Earthling, Reality, Storytellers, A Reality Tour, and The Next Day contributed greatly to the former Mr. Jones’ artistic and commercial resurgence.
