Tal Wilkenfeld

This lioness of the electric bass has accomplished much in her burgeoning career, waxing a commendable solo bow entitled Transformation (2007) and fortifying such artists as Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock, Jackson Browne, Lee Ritenour, and Ryan Adams, among others.

As a live performer, she is among the most in-demand in her field –sharing stages with artists as diverse as Prince, the Allman Brothers, Rod Stewart, Gov’t Mule, Chick Corea, and Trevor Rabin to cite a few.

Dig the way Tal pushes Geoffrey Arnold Beck in a live setting as captured on Live at Ronnie Scott’s (2008), especially when the kindly guitar god commences tapping and doddering near the headstock of her instrument during Ms. Winkenfeld’s spotlight improvisation.

Tal’s solos quote the be-bop players of yore as she glides over the bar line with melodic passages that never give way to exercises in dexterity.
