Southside Johnny / Havin' A Party

From a Jersey Shore metropolis ruled the greatest rhythm and bar band of their era: Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes.  Founding bassist Alan Berger soulfully swung his mates akin to a Basie, Miller, or Dorsey Big band, yet also piled his craft with an old-school rock ‘n’ roll disposition. This platter compiles choice cuts from I Don’t Want to Go Home (1976), This Time It’s For Real (1977), and Hearts of Stone (1978)- many of which were composed by Steven Van Zandt.

The Jukes were that rare ensemble who could capture the fervor of their live performances in the recording studio.
