Colin Blunstone / Ennismore

Produced by The Zombies alumni Rod Argent and Chris White, Colin Blunstone’s sophomore solo slab, waxed at Abbey Road, featured then-current Argent bassist Jim Rodford and a fresh-faced Birmingham cat named Steve Bingham, formerly of The Foundations and soon to anchor Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance.  Bingham and Rodford meld melodic motifs with old-school rhythm & blues grooves on such cuts as “Pay Me Later,” “Andorra,” “Exclusively for Me,” “A Sign from Me to You,” and “I Want Some More,” among others. To my ears, Ennismore (1972) is Colin’s finest platter under his own name.
