Elvis Costello & The Attractions / IbMePdErRoIoAmL

You’d be hard pressed to find a vinyl/digital pressing featuring Bruce Thomas that fails to impress, however if you pressed me on his most impressive studio performance – to my ears, its IbMePdErRoIoAmL (1982).

The main Attraction plies chords, inventive melodic counterpoint, and plucky plectrum passages throughout Elvis’ new wave baroque pop masterpiece.  Dig "Beyond Belief," "Shabby Doll," and "Man Out of Time" wherein Bruce shifts grooves, tethering drummer Pete Thomas' sturdy rhythms and Steve Nieve's orchestral yearnings. And that’s Fab Four knob twiddler Geoff Emerick in the producer’s chariot.
