Brian Setzer / The Knife Feels Like Justice

Only the gods of rock can reveal why Brian Setzer’s superb solo bow The Knife Feels Like Justice (1986) flopped in the marketplace.  Kenny Aaronson, as you would expect, shines throughout. Great songs make for great bass lines as evidenced in Kenny’s up-in-the-mix staccato riffage on “Haunted River,” his subtle slap licks on the verses of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” his old-school soul groove on “Bobby’s Back,” the growling underpin of “Radiation Ranch,” and his Latin feel on “Maria” – and that’s just half the slab!
