Boz Scaggs / Silk Degrees

How big was Silk Degrees? http://bit.ly/1xAk4N9 This late-70s Top 40 bassist had to learn this slab note for note, slap for slap, glissando for glissando and then some.  William Royce Scaggs’ commercial break-through prominently featured the rhythm section that would eventually scale even greater commercial heights as Toto: drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate. As smooth and slick as Boz’ image was at the time, Hungate and Porcaro’s grooves drove this platter with David’s r&b fueled passages rendered with the utmost economy and Fender “precision.”
