Maggie Bell / Live at the Rainbow Theatre

Kudos to bassist and Indian food aficionado Mo Foster for salvaging this incendiary 1974 Maggie Bell Band live set at the hallowed Rainbow Theatre from his personal archive -which my colleague Mark Preston and I had the pleasure of visiting at his London home.  Mo knows blues, and flexes his extraordinary rhythmic and harmonic chops on rave-up renditions of “Wishing Well,” “Suicide Sal,” and an ultra-funky reading of the Beatles’ “I Saw Her (Him) Standing There.” A proper release back in the day may have afforded Ms. Bell the crossover success which she so richly deserved.
