Garland Jeffreys / Ghost Writer

Waxed in ’77 with New York City’s finest session cats, Garland’s Ghost Writer is an exemplary mélange of pop, rock, and reggae rendered with a gritty veneer that was the Big Apple back in the day.

Abetting Jeffreys’ usual mastery of melody and libretto is studio ace Anthony Jackson, in a rare four-string configuration for him, working in-the-pocket with Messrs. Steve Gadd, Michael and Randy Brecker, David Spinozza, Rick Marotta, David Sanborn, and Hugh McCracken, among others.  They don’t make records like this anymore, that is, with the exception of Garland Jeffreys.
