Yes / Going For the One

In days previous to the establishment of rock sub-genres, bands/artists strived for modernity lest they be doomed to cut-out bin extinction. During the punk zeitgeist of '77, prog prognosticators Yes waxed a tight, pop oriented slab which displayed their considerable instrumental prowess sans the protracted self-indulgence that the laser-light illuminated, dry-ice smoke engulfed, silk-cape sporting quintet applied with great success. With a snazzy New Wave narrow neck-tie and tailored blazer Chris Squire deftly balanced his signature contrapuntal flourishes with fresh pocket grooves and melodic passages ("Parallels," "Going for the One") which showed those spotty punks a thing or two!
