Lenny Kravitz / Strut

Though he sporadically employs the talents of accomplished players in the studio such as Jack Daley - Lenny Kravitz primarily helms the bass chair on record with intriguing results, especially given his sparse, compositional approach to the instrument. To my ears, it sounds as if Lenny is down-stroke plectrum thumping on a Fender Jazz for Strut (2014) as he renders a potent array of tactical glissandos, purposeful counterpoint, and old-school disco octaving passages. Less is more, more or less?
