Miroslav Vitous

A giant in the jazz fusion movement as a bassist, collaborator, composer, sideman, and recording artist; and a founding member of Weather Report, Miroslav Vitous brought the instrument to the forefront with his adventurous applications of rhythm, harmony, and technique.

Inspired by his native Czechoslovakian folk music, Vitous is an elite player often compared to Scott LaFaro, Dave Holland, and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen.

His exhaustive body of work includes seminal sides by Chick Corea, Larry Coryell, Stan Getz, Herbie Mann, and Jack DeJohnette to cite a very select few.
