The Pretenders / Loose Scew

http://bit.ly/2EV4m5F One tight slab with killer grooves, Loose Screw (2002) flew under the radar, likely due to the fact that it didn't contain the usual massive hit single which Christine Ellen Hynde oft supplied.  Regardless, the compositions are top notch and brilliantly fortified by percolating pop reggae rhythms aplenty. Bassist Andy Hobson hardly plays the one, rendering sinewy passages with a deep tone that maintains enough edge to cut through band's signature jangle guitar jaunts.  I've seen most of The Pretenders line-ups, and the Adam Seymour /Andy Hobson incarnation was, to my ears, the most musically flexible.
